What is the best USB hub for the iMac Pro?
The dark 'Space Gray' colored iMac Pro models have four USB 3.0 ports and four Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports.
Accordingly, for many users, the iMac Pro has plenty of ports. However, because these ports all are on the back of the system, they can be inconvenient to access on a regular basis -- to plug in an iPhone, camera, or USB stick, for example -- and an external USB hub can be much easier to use.
Identification Help (Skip)
At the moment, there only is one iMac Pro line, so further identification really isn't necessary. Anti spyware for mac.
However, presumably there will be subsequent iMac Pro models that may have different physical dimensions or different ports, so additional identification details may be helpful in the future. The iMac Pro Model Number, which likely will be shared with later systems, is A1862.
For more precise identification, the original 'Late 2017' iMac Pro models can be identified sufficiently by the iMacPro1,1Model Identifier in software and externally by the 3144EMC Number.
To locate the model identifier in software, select 'About This Mac' under the Apple Menu on your computer, click the 'More Info.' button, and finally click the 'System Report' button.
The EMC number is inconveniently located on the bottom of the 'foot' supporting the iMac Pro, but EveryMac.com nevertheless has hand documented the EMC numbers because they are a unique external identifier.
More details about specific identifiers are provided in EveryMac.com's extensive Mac Identification section.
Best iMac Pro USB Hubs
Of course, 'best' is a subjective term, and nearly any USB 3.0 or USB-C hub will work, but two that EveryMac.com has found to be well designed with the iMac Pro in mind include the Satechi Type-C Clamp Hub Pro and Satechi Type-C USB Hub & Micro/SD Card Reader, both available in matching dark gray.

If you find it annoying to reach under and around the iMac Pro to plug and unplug USB cables as well as SD cards, you likely will find the Satechi Type-C Clamp Hub Pro to be a big improvement. It plugs into one of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports and clamps onto the bottom of the iMac Pro display to provide three front-facing USB 3.0 ports, one data only (non-charging) USB-C port, and a Micro/SD card reader.

The Satechi Type-C USB Hub & Micro/SD Card Reader also is designed to complement the iMac Pro color and design, but it sits on the desk and it can be positioned in front of the computer or tucked out of the way when not in use. Unfortunately, this hub does not have a USB-C port (but it still has the three USB 3.0 ports and Micro/SD card reader), and it still is a nice design that will work well for many users.

It is hoped that one of these USB hubs will make using your iMac Pro a bit more convenient. Is there another USB hub that you really like for the iMac Pro? Please share.
